Ye Yi's visit

Ye yi had a conference in Vienna and so could not resist dropping by to visit you. You were so happy to see her and actually went out shopping the whole day with us with minimal complaint :) My initial plans were to celebrate her birthday by going out for a nice meal (also good excuse for dining out which is a rarity nowadays). But, she craved british food. In the end, we had pub lunches and ate in our regular Toby's Carvery for dinner.

You insisted on holding her bag

Very pleased with yourself after completing your new jigsaws bought from the day's shopping
I was so amused that you looked for your truck and 'fire engine' to put on the jigsaws after finishing them.

Nursery rhymes

I'm not sure if you've learnt these songs through us singing with you or from nursery. It's probably from watching too much utube :)

Richard: Isaac, dada's mouth painful coz tooth taken out
Isaac: Isaac's arm painful, Isaac's knee also painful (bruise from knocks)

We just laughed.

The age gap between 2 kids

I came across a very well written article on baby centre when they sent the most recent update. It was about the best age gap between 2 children - 'Sibling age gaps: How they affect families'. Of course there's no best gap, but the way they discussed all the pros and cons for close and large gaps were very reasonable and practical.

Just very timely as of course everybody's asking about number 2. We know that now's not the right time as there's too much on our plates at the moment. Plus, the summary of the article says it all 'If you feel that you're just about keeping your head above water, and you have time on your side, it makes sense to wait'. I'll add that I want to enjoy all the time I now have with you.

Weekend adventure

As we needed to bring Adam for adventures, we went to the World Musuem and was swarmed by kids. There were children EVERYWHERE!! This is what half term's about, I suppose.

So, we decided to try out the Walker Art Gallery nearby. We never could really appreciate art, but was hoping that it will be quieter. We actually had a good time and were pleasantly surprised by the activities available for kids (we were quite bored by the actual art gallery and was only in the kids section). They really do try to instill creativity and the artistic side of a child from a young age. There was a large play area with costumes for dress-up, colouring/drawing/painting, art and craft, blocks, books etc.. There was even somebody present to guide the art and craft section. It does seem like a nursery, but it's all free!! I suppose this is the best bit of UK, where there are lots of activities for kids that are freely available.

Thank God Adam's going back to the nursery tomorrow
