On the first day of CNY, we met up with friends whose families were not in Liverpool and had our share of good food too :)

You were really excited after school last Friday:
Isaac:  'Its Chinese Day today!! We had lion dance and noodles!!'
Me: 'Ya, it's Chinese New Year on Sunday.. Do you know you are Chinese?
Isaac: 'Huh? No!!'
There's no racial boundaries for kids :)

Gong Xi Fa Cai

Liverpool's supposed to have the oldest Chinese community so there were lots of events going on similar to previous years. So we brought you to see the lion dance in the weekend.  We were there with 'D', close friends staying just a row away.  You were both so excited that we decided to make our own dragon head from cardbox boxes so you both could do a little performance for us. 

What I had in mind was taking a box, painting it red/yellow/black and then cutting a few holes for the eyes and mouth and they can dance around in it.  BUT, 'D's mother is SUPER creative and had a proper dragon head in mind.  Although it took much longer than expected to make, the result was so impressive and we had SO MUCH FUN!!  Unfortunately the both of you only wanted to be the 'head' and refused to be the 'tail' :)

Plum face

I passed you a plum after dinner one evening and you started chuckling after a while and said 'Mummy look, a face!!!'  You actually bit out 2 eyes, a nose and mouth :) 

 

We had some friends over for dinner last night and you had such a fun time playing with both their kids. So imagine our surprise and embarrassment when you suddenly said: 'I think it's time for them to go home now!!'

You told me this weekend: 'Mummy, your tummy is getting bigger and bigger and it will burst 'bang' one day'.  But you're very sweet and kiss baby (my tummy) many times everyday!!
