Shopping
We went major shopping with another family in preparation to go camping and thankfully you were very patient going in and out of Millets, Costco, Makro and Lidl. I pray that you will remain well so that we can go camping. I am very much looking forward to it as it will be our first family holiday together, apart from going back to Malaysia.
39+4
You were in my tummy for 39 weeks and 4 days and now you have spent 39 weeks and 4 days in the world. I wonder if you have got used to this world yet?? You have certainly grown and developed a lot since you were born. I suppose it's about the speed of how you went from our little 'beanie' to our precious Isaac, and changed both our lives forever, for the better.

Sleeping habits
If you nap twice at nursery, you will be able to last the evening and allow us to have dinner before putting you to sleep by 8.30. But, if you only nap once, you will fuss during your dinner, scream after bathing and will need to sleep by 7 something, which means we can only have dinner at 8 plus. You will now only sleep on your tummy with your butt sticking right up. About every half hour or so, you will stir and subconsciously crawl forward once in your sleep. So, although I lay you down with your feet touching the bottom of your cot, you will always hit your head at the top of the cot about 3 hours later, which is the first time you wake up through the night. You still do not understand the meaning of 'sleeping through' and unfortunately love waking up, up to 5x a night occasionally.
What can I do? What should I do? I only ask that you wake up twice. I had to feed and comfort you when you were ill but now that you're well, you're taking advantage of the situation. We tried ignoring your cries but you have learnt how to force a cough/choke, scream/shout and prove to have more stamina than us and I always give-in in the end. I could not 'tahan' you standing, shaking the cotside and your pitiful face staring at me. I tried giving water last night but you cried after drinking water and 'demanded' milk. So, as a compromise, I made you bottles. There will definitely be no more breastfeeding in the middle of the night.
Hopefully you will learn to only wake up once or twice again. I know you can do it because you did it for a few nights before you fell ill. They do say an illness causes havoc with the sleeping. I just hope that you will remain well and sleep well...

New antics
Thank God you are back to your normal self. Who else is there to entertain us with new antics?
Waiting to be rescued after getting stuck in the standing position because you only know how to cruise or sit down and not know how to put your legs back together when spread too far apart.

Smacking your lips
'Saying No'
Laughing yourself silly

Happy Father's Day
It's the first father's day for Richard but unfortunately he had to work. I suppose you're still too young to know how to 'pamper' him. For now, you remind him that he's a father by waking him (and me) up every 2 hours at night, making us 'zombies' in the morning :) But, I am sure even at such a young age, you've already made him a very proud father, and everything else comes second. He also can't help beaming when everybody keeps commenting about how you're 'mini Richard'.

Teething
Yup.. nearly 9 months old and still toothless :) But, there's finally 2 small bumps at your bottom gums and a tooth may be cutting through. Does this explain your fever, diarrhoea and vomiting over the past 2 weeks? I doubt it.
Despite buying you a few teethers, you only like the 'chicken' which is actually a bath toy.
You enjoying your drumstick...

What next ??
Just as I thought you were getting better, you seem to have caught a stomach bug. You have been persistently vomiting and having loose stools yesterday and today. *Sigh* The washing machine has been on 3 days in a row and I have just about had enough of washing as I have to first prewash everything. I am slightly worried because you have not really kept anything down since yesterday, including milk. You even had to wear clothes from the nursery because I only pack 2 extra sets in your bag. But, you seem as energetic as ever and is cruising along the furniture. I wonder where you get all the sugar from?
I really hope these are all the 'viruses' you're going to be getting from nursery and it WILL be better from now on.

Was sleep training worthwhile?
Thank God you are so much better this week and have been in nursery for the full day yesterday and today. You have also got your voice back and is 'babbling' again :)
Unfortunately, you are still waking up regularly at night. Perhaps you got used to waking up hourly and getting comforted while you were ill and thus still crave for the cuddle or breastfeed. At least it's 2 hourly now and you go back to sleep easily with just some rocking. Thinking back, I tried so hard to 'sleep train' you and finally got you to only wake up once about 11 and then at about 5 or 6, just about a week before you fell ill. Is it not a shame that both our efforts have gone down the drain and it's now back to square one? I could have slept more, rather than keep having to pick you up/put you down when you woke at night, and you would have shed so much less tears. Will I attempt to 'sleep train' you again?? Doubt so. But, I will stick to not feeding you when you wake up after midnight. I honestly hope you will then not bother to wake up and will sleep till the morning. We'll see.

To better days ahead
It has been a rough week with all of us being unwell. This is the first time that you were ill for so long and could not keep your food and milk down. You felt like a hot water bottle and I tried not to get frustrated and angry when you woke up hourly and cried and cried and took ages to fall back asleep. I also felt so bad for sending you into nursery one of the days and then got called to bring you back at midday because of a high fever. Even they were surprised that you did not eat because you always finished your food.
Thank God it's all better now with you starting to eat some food today. You still threw up once but at least kept most in. Good thing is I now know when you are going to throw up and have learnt to face you outwards so the sheets are clean and I don't need to get changed :) It's all because of the thick phlegm that you keep choking on. Amazingly you still tried to play in the daytime.
This is you much better today
I'm also now the owner of an iphone!!

First bus journey
While your daddy was on call this bank holiday, we went on a bus trip with the church to Betsw-y-Coed. I was a little apprehensive about the 2 hour journey and the long day with you alone as apart from the trip to London to make your passport, this is only the second time we were going to be out for the whole day. It was longer than expected as we were out from about 9 till 9.
All excited on the bus in your car seat
I think you enjoyed yourself overall. You saw a waterfall, ate ice-cream, but it was a little disappointing that you slept for the whole 2 hours when we were on the 'riverside' walk. Yup, it was VERY tiring carrying you in the carrier the whole time but it must have been very comfortable for you as I don't remember you ever napping for so long. However, on hindsight, it must be because you were not feeling very well.

Actually, this trip may have made your cough and cold worse (to the point of missing nursery again) as the whole day out may have been too cold and tiring for you. If only I had known.

First bruise
Despite trying to watch you like a hawk, you slipped while standing and hit your face on the wooden toy block that you were supporting your weight on last Sunday. You let out a cry and it left you with a line bruise across your right cheek. I felt really bad but thankfully you forgot about it immediately and carried on playing.
Imagine my shock when I picked you up from nursery yesterday and saw your carer hold a cold compress on your head. Apparently somebody opened the door on you while you were being carried!! How careless and poor you!! 2 bruises in the span of 2 days.
