What a holiday!!

Definition of a good holiday:

Chilling out in Dundee where we started our journey in the UK, with friends who made our student lives something that we will cherish forever
Finding ways to make time for some adult conversation
Seeing Isaac enjoy himself

Spending a day in the Safari

Forgetting all responsibilities (only for the minute when we're screaming our heads off down the slide :0)

There was eating involved but it was no longer fine dining or enjoying different courses in a restaurant as there was three little ones that prefer to play rather than sit in high chairs. Still, home cooked food was better than I've done in Liverpool

It ended by meeting up with Richard's relatives and you receiving a few more early birthday presents

You came home and became a little more temperamental. I wonder if it was the sudden lack of attention after a whole week of play and fun? Thankfully you did not cry when I sent you into nursery again.

Teething?

I wonder if you're finally teething again as you have been waking up 4-5x at night for the past 3 nights after 'sleeping through' for more than a month. It was blissful to have a good night's rest and am dreading this effect of lack of sleep. It's difficult to complain though as I really want you to have more teeth. You only have the 2 lower teeth which is tad too little for a one year old :) I have caught sight of the upper front tooth cutting through and am hoping this will pass quickly. I want to sleep through the night again!!

'Do you like carrots?'

It was probably coincidental but your expression was classic when you put the carrot in your mouth and you did not eat any of the sticks. It was made to keep you quiet or settled when we ate dinner but obviously did not work (continuation of this video was previously posted)

Laptop fascination

Your ears are very sharp and the moment you hear the start-up sound of the laptops, you will immediately stop whatever you're doing, crawl over, push us aside and start banging and hitting the keys. Your expressions almost always go something like:

Move aside, this is MINE!!
HHmmm... Let's see what I can do today
OOOooopppsss.. did I just press the delete button?

Standing on your own!!

Just a few days ago you were struggling and trying to stand up on your own from a sitting position. It's amazing seeing how fast you gain confidence and develop as today, you stood on your own for a few minutes (long enough for me to take a photo holding your favourite toy). Maybe you will take your first step before your first birthday.

More accidents

For record sake (and to show you in the future), these have been your recent incident forms (forms that I have to sign to confirm that I have been told what has happened, but, I always wonder if it did really happen that way..Hhmmm):
- climbed on the walker, fell and hit yourself just below your left eye = bruise and scratch
- crawled under a low table and bumped into the table leg = bruise
- hit on the forehead with a pot by another kid = bruise
- slipped while standing by the sandpit and hit your head on the sandpit = bruise
- had the door opened into you = bruise

Maybe I have to get used to you always having a bruise somewhere on your body? Or wrap you in bubble wrap? Or wrap everything else in cotton? Or hope you will become less active when you grow older?

Shoes

I've been advised to try putting shoes on you everyday for short periods of time to get you used to it as you hate having these things on your feet. Actually, you even dislike socks, always removing them on your own. Maybe deep inside you're a 'kampung boy'?

You have worn shoes in the past but those were for fashion. Even then, you kept kicking them off and I gave up after a few attempts. So it has been at least a few months that you've not had anything on your feet. I thought I'll try with sandals rather than proper shoes first (thanks SW), but you refused to stand up after I struggled for about 20 mins to put them on. I also realise that you have very chunky and big feet. Thankfully you'll walk with the walker with these on after fussing. Maybe it's a good idea to wait a few more weeks before trying proper shoes.

Anyway, it's these everyday for about 15 minutes, if I remember to put them on for you :)
