Starting Young?

You came back with this folder in the first week of your pre-school.  Thank God it was only reading a storybook and making a drawing.  Hhmm... Hope it doesn't get more than this.

Settling in pre-school

Thankfully you did not even ask Richard to stay back on your first day in the new school and just wandered in.  We went to pick you up together and you were really happy running around.  You seem to have really enjoyed yourself the past few days.  But my heart melted when I heard this was what you said today after Richard picked you up:
Ric: Did you have a good day today Isaac?
Isaac:  I want to go back to the nursery with the trains and toys.  I don't want to go to big boy school anymore.
Ric: Why?
Isaac: I***(his best friend in nursery) said she love me but she can't go to big boy school with me

Awww.... how do you explain to a kid about moving on? I suppose the excitement of a new environment has passed.  You do mention names of your new classmates and hopefully you'll make new friends soon!!

A new phase for Isaac

Our baby going to 'school'
Tomorrow marks the first day of pre-school for you.  We decided to move you from your current nursery to a more formal structure of teaching.  It's still not formal schooling but belongs to part of a junior school.  It does however require you to wear a uniform, which we tested out this weekend.  Bias me think you look super cute!!  It was not easy to get you to put it on.  We have been telling you last week that you're going to school and need to wear a uniform on Monday.  So, when we asked you to put it on yesterday, you kept insisting 'But it is NOT Monday today!!' again and again.

We're really anxious of you starting and praying that we have made the right decision.

Last day of nursery

'Hhmmm.. Will I like it?'

Happy 2013

It was definitely a quiet affair for us - lots of TV and bags of crisps with no alcohol :)  We reflected on 2012 and thanked God for ALL the events and blessings.  The one that put the biggest smile on our faces was recounting Isaac's growth and development and how much joy he has brought into our lives, and how thankful we are to have him.  This year, we also moved into the new home, I started my subspecialty training and there's also number 2 on the way, among other things.  So please Lord, continue to give us wisdom, guidance and strength as we enter 2013!!

Playdoh revisited

I introduced you to playdoh about a year ago and sort of forgot about it as you were not really interested then.  However, one of your Christmas present was tubs of playdoh so the 'machine' came out again.  This time, you really enjoyed it and made 'noodles and fish balls' for everyone :) We also shaped animals and different things for your role/pretent playing, which you have recently begun doing lots of.

Badminton

Recently we (more like Richard as I can only stroke now in my condition) have been playing badminton more regularly again.  So, the plan is to start teaching you.  Unfortunately this is not a very popular game here so have had real difficulties in getting a junior racquet for you.  Thank you 'gong gong' and 'popo' in advance in getting the racquet.  Can't wait to use it when they come :)  Hopefully you will pick up the game quickly coz picking shuttlecocks' really tiring, much more than playing itself.

Isaac dreams

A couple of weeks ago you started to recall dreams to us in the morning.  The most recent one went like this:

Isaac: 'Mummy, I was flying in your car with 3 little pigs and dada. I was not scared.  I was flying so high and was holding on tight.'
Me: 'Where was mummy?'
Isaac: 'You were not in the car. I don't know? I was zoom like this (and makes hand motions)'
Me: 'You know people cannot fly in real life'
Isaac: 'I know mummy, we are not like superman.  But I was holding tight with 3 little pigs'

Interesting dream :) I wonder where was I.
